When you start training at the Arizona Hombu, you will first become a member of Seiyo No Shorin-Ryu Karate Kobudo Kai (Seiyo Kai International).
Apply for membership at: Okinawakarate@live.com. We have an initiation fee that allows you to receive a membership card, patch for your uniform (gi) & window decal. Thereafter, we require an annual fee to maintain your membership (which must be received no later than January 15th of each year.
After you join SKI, you are ready to train. We offer the following training at the Hombu:
(1) Family Martial Arts (Wednedays 1-1:45 pm - summer schedule).
(2) Adult Shorin-Ryu training -(T, Th, F 7-8:30 pm). Our samurai, jujutsu, kobudo & self-defense training are all included in this.
(3) Private Classes. Special group classes are also available on request such as self-defense for women, flight attendant self-defense training, etc.
(4) If you are a member of a church group, contact us, we have a very special rate for church groups.
As you progress & gain expertise, you will be tested for rank certification. This is entirely separate from your membership and training fees. For Mudansha rank (lower color belts), this typically occurs once every 3 to 6 months.
As you reach the Yudansha ranks (black belt), testing typically occurs once every 1 to 4 years.
